The Department of Systematic and Evolutionary Botany at the University of Zurich is one of Europe's largest institutions studying pattern and process of evolution of plant biodiversity, as well as cultivating plants in the botanical garden. Our current conservation program consists of ex situ cultivation of selected rare Swiss plant species, and is largely run by our gardeners. Our facilities include state-of the-art labs and greenhouses, a library, the second largest herbarium in Switzerland, as well as areas for plant cultivation.
